Not just one day of celebration. Not just a themed activity here and there. But a constant, gentle weaving of the natural world into everything we do. Every muddy footprint, every sunbeam caught in a water tray, every shell placed in a tiny hand.🐚
Because we believe that children don’t learn to care about the Earth through lectures. They learn through love. Through wonder. Through noticing the way a leaf curls in the sun. Through feeling cool water trickle over their fingers. Through watching a worm wiggle in real-time, heart completely still, eyes wide with awe.🪱
In honour of Earth Day, we created a sensory invitation to play in our Baby Cottage, a beautiful mess of real sand, gentle water, soft animal toys, and loose parts that mimic the elements. It was open-ended, tactile, and full of opportunities for discovery. A chance for the smallest ones in our care to build a connection with the world under their feet.🦶
We also shared Dear Earth by Isabel Otter, a story about a little girl who writes love letters to our planet — letters full of hope, care, and childlike wisdom. The kind of book that makes you pause and remember what matters.✨
And isn’t that the heart of it all?
What matters.
The way we teach children to care for this world is by showing them it’s worth caring for.
By giving them spaces to explore, textures to feel, and the freedom to imagine what could be.
We don’t need to tell them the Earth is precious, we let them discover it for themselves.
So here’s to our little earth lovers. Our leaf collectors, puddle stompers, stone stackers.
They’re not just playing, they’re learning how to love the planet, and we’re here for every second of it. 🌍
