Today, on World Bee Day, we pause to honour the incredible role that bees play in our world.🌍
These small yet mighty pollinators are responsible for the growth of over 75% of the world’s flowering plants and about 35% of global food crops. Without them, our diets would lack many fruits, vegetables, and nuts we often take for granted.🥜
In the UAE, bees are not just vital for pollination but also for combating desertification. Their pollination activities invigorate vegetation growth, aid in soil retention, and enhance food security. However, the harsh climate poses challenges. The UAE imports about 95% of its queen bees, and many struggle to survive the intense summer heat, leading to significant hive losses each year.
At our nursery, we introduced our children to the fascinating world of bees. Through hands-on activities, stories, and discussions, they learned about the life cycle of bees, their role in pollination, and the importance of protecting their habitats. By fostering this early appreciation, we hope to inspire a generation that values and protects these essential creatures.🐝
